The opening is very sparkling citrus — grapefruit and lemon peel — but it quickly develops that signature Guerlain almond accord underneath. Instead of the syrupy cherry-amaretto vibe some older L’Homme Idéal flankers have, this version feels cleaner and colder at first, then gradually turns creamy and woody. The incense and vetiver in the base give it a smoky mineral texture that keeps it from becoming overly sweet.
